A poem inspired by Bridges Out of Poverty

Broken heart again, no lesson learned

The bridges to make it, long since they burned

By generational curses and those who wanted to be

No example to look to, so the example became me

I had to learn, I had to see

That this wasn't the way, it doesn't have to be

To know that I can make it, that I can learn

To rebuild the bridges that were burned

I can make the changes and switch my track

Because I carry strength and resilience in my invisible knapsack
